A Studio Story to Share
I just wanted to take a quiet moment to share what life has really been like behind the scenes lately at Cole & Cinder.
Being a creative isn’t just about dreaming up beautiful ideas, it also means pouring so much of yourself into every piece. There’s a constant balancing act between keeping things personal and meaningful, and making sure everything continues to function as a growing small business.
A lot of you have shared how much you love the uniqueness in what we do and I feel the same. But with that comes some tough decisions, like using moulds for certain popular pieces to help us keep up with demand. It’s never about cutting corners, just about finding ways to keep going without burning out.
People are often surprised when I say I keep a fairly structured 10–6 schedule with some late nights and early morning thrown in. When you work for yourself, that kind of routine isn’t expected, but it’s honestly what keeps me grounded. I think having some rhythm to the day helps the creativity flow a little more freely.
I also used to be in front of the camera a lot more on Instagram and the like… but over time, it began to feel like a lot. Creating pieces already feels personal, and being so publicly visible on top of that started to feel a bit strange. So I stepped back just for a while. But now, I’m finding my way back to sharing more, hopefully in a gentler, more sustainable way.
Over the summer, as we started thinking about growing and introducing more moulded pieces, I realised I want to connect with more people. Not just for likes or follows, but to share our, story the real one, in a way that feels honest. So the content might shift slightly, but only so we can welcome more people into the fold.
And finally, to those of you who’ve been here over the last five years, thank you. Really. Your support means the world, and I never take it for granted.
To mark the start of this next chapter, I’ll be hosting our annual sample sale at the studio on Sunday the 28th of September. We do it every year and its always such a great day to get to meet all of you in person and to see how much love you give pieces that in mosts eyes aren’t perfect.
It’s just a gentle way to clear some space, make room for new energy and ideas, and let go of a few older pieces I’ve been holding onto (probably for a bit too long!). I’ve loved having them around me, that’s why I’ve kept them, but it feels lovely knowing they’ll go off to new homes where they can be appreciated all over again.
Hope to see you there, or hear from you soon.
Love always,
Nicole
